UPDATED! TCM Alert - A "Raymond T. Marcus" double bill

On the lower half of a double-bill with I BURY THE LIVING (Albert Band, 1958) this Friday Night (3:30 am CT) on Turner Classic Movies Underground comes the HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD-sanctioned ZOMBIES OF MORA TAU. It's a film that I’ve wanted to see ever since jotting down the title whilst listening to HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD’s fast and furious commentary track (which features Allan Arkush, Joe Dante and Jon Davison taking the opportunity to be absolutely candid and divulge to us all of the many influences of their reference-strewn tribute to the drive-in film).

For fans of the Arkush/Dante picture, this is a must, especially since the one and only home video release (a Columbia VHS) has long since gone out-of-print and rarely turns up on ebay. I don’t know if TCM has shown the film before, but this is the first time that it’s appeared on my radar.

UPDATE: It's come to my attention that TCM's following up ZOMBIES OF MORA TAU with another film by the same scriptwriter. THE MAN WHO TURNED TO STONE (Laszlo Kardos, 1957) is written by one Bernard Gordon, a blacklistee who was billed as Raymond T. Marcus on both films. Gotta give credit to the station for such unique and unexpected programming!

I was unaware of these film gems, and am so proud of my late father, Raymond T. Marcus, for 'fronting' for his dear friend Bernie (Gordon)- to the everlasting enrichment of our culture. I thought it had peaked with Krakatoa East of Java.
(I believe that Krakatoa is actually west of Java....)Seriously, the actual Raymie was a quiet hero - one of many during the McCarthy years.
